Genocide Awareness Project

The Genocide Awareness Project is an event that was created by the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform. All across the country, they bring large billboards to campuses. The billboards illustrate exactly what abortion is and compare it to more commonly recognized events of genocide.
The Pro-Life Club has invited the Genocide Awareness Project to campus five times. They came during Fall Quarter 1998, Fall Quarter 2002, Spring Quarter 2005, Spring Quarter 2007, and Spring Quarter 2009. Below are some quotes from the 2005 event and pictures from 5 of their visits. Please follow the links for more pictures from each year's GAP event, or click on one of the links at the bottom of the page for additional information or more examples of changed minds.

“This is a shock to our sensibilities.”
“I have to admit that the first time I saw your truck I was shocked. I will concede that this display is an effective rhetorical device to get attention on the abortion issue.”
“Everyone agrees that the Holocaust is an awful tragedy. Everyone agrees that slavery is an awful tragedy. Everyone agrees that this one (aborted baby) is a horrible picture.”

“We (pro-choice people) are clearly on the uncomfortable side to be, because nobody is going to look at that (abortion picture) and say that it is good.” ---Black student 5/18/05 “This is great. Thank you so much. I just keep praying but this is great.” ---Female student “Wow man! I was sort of neutral before I saw this but its changing my mind. This is powerful stuff.” --- Black male student “You should have been aborted yourself.” --- Female Professor “This is awesome – very touching.” --- Male professor “I saw your trucks and I totally wasn’t prepared. It really shocked me. I had to go to the library and just think about it for the rest of the day.” --- White male student “I have been here an hour. I just can’t convince myself to leave because I have so much to think about.” --- White male student “I really respect you guys and agree with you because your side is the only one that will have a meaningful conversation with me. The pro-choice people only want to give me stickers and papers. They won’t talk about themselves or me. Thank you.” --- White sophomore male |
